If you haven't done this before make sure that you check the Wal-Mart website often because they always have a few items that you can request free samples for. The good thing is that most of the time when you receive the sample there is a coupon included so if you really like the product you can save money when you purchase it later.

A few bargains I found today...

Today I had a couple of hours to go out and get a little shopping done.  I was happy with the results.  Here are some of the best bargains that I found:

Target:

I had a whole stack of $1 Kellogg's coupons that I had printed from coupons.com a couple of weeks ago.  They are going to expire at the end of the month so I was happy that Target had a lot of their Kellogg's cereal on sale for $1.99.  I bought about 15 or 16 boxes for $.99 each- we should be stocked for cereal for the summer!

I found several sets of Rubbermaid storage containers (small ~1 cup size) on clearance for $1.95 and I had some coupons from 5/3 Smart Source for $1 off.

I have been wanting to try some of the new Wisp disposable toothbrushes and they had them on clearance for $1.68 and I had several $.50 coupons from All You magazine that I used and got them for $1.18.

Walgreens:

I am getting as many of the Edge Shaving Gell that I have coupons for from this past weekend and the Skintimate Shave Gel ($.75 off from 4/26 Smart Source) making each of these $.24 after the $1 RR

Also, I have been able to buy the Colgate Visible Whitening Toothpaste for $4.49 and the Bayer Quick Release Crystals for $2.49 and receive $7 back in RRs that I then use to buy the Right Guard Professional Strength Deodorant for $5.99 and still have an extra dollar to add something small to my purchase with and receive $5 in RR.  I plan to just go in and keep rolling these as many times as I can this week as I leave the store with a lot of product and very little out of pocket.

The cashier today said "I need to see exactly what you are buying and go buy it myself!!"

I ran out of time before I made it to Wal-Mart for and bargain finding so I'll have to post those things when I make it by there later this week.

What a weekend!

Wow!  I haven't even posted in a couple of days.  This weekend was insane around our house.  We had 4 birthday parties and tons of other events going on.  I am planning to do some bargain shopping later today so stay tuned and I will fill you in on any great deals that I find!

I think that my kids are watching...

I have been coming home with so many bargains lately and I always have to show off my latest finds to the whole family.  Sometimes I wonder if they think "oh no, here she goes again"!!  My daughter is learning about money in school and so is always asking about how much things cost and asking "if we buy that will it use up all of our money?".   Recently she asked me why I was using coupons and I was able to explain that each coupon was worth money that would be taken off of our bill at the store.  She suddenly became much more interested and has wanted to help any time I am cutting coupons.  I am enjoying getting to teach her how to find the best deal and save money.  

This week she had a report due at school and was supposed to talk about the country of her choice.  She chose Russia (with a little help from Mom and Dad who have both been there so knew that we could give some fun help with the report).  They were allowed to bring snacks to share with the other students during their report so we got online and found a Russian Market in our town.  We went and picked out a few things and were headed home.  Suddenly I heard a gasp from the backseat and Jenna yelled out "Mom, we forgot to use coupons"!!

April Savings Overview

I have just finished my first month of learning how to combine coupons and sales.  I have put a lot of work into finding all of these deals.  That is one reason why I have started this blog.  If I'm doing the research I really want to be able to share it with others.  So at the end of the month I wanted to see if the effort was worth it.  I kept a spread sheet of all of my receipts of the month for our grocery, household products, health and beauty products and clothing that I purchased for our family.  I decided that the effort was certainly worth it!!  Here are the savings that I saw in April:

Value of items purchased:  $1,785.02

Savings with sales and coupons:  $1,096.16

Total paid for these items:  $688.86

Percentage Saved:  61%

In addition to these savings I submitted $83.99 in rebates that I will receive in a few weeks.

Now I say that is worth it!  Now go out and start enjoying these savings for yourself.  Watch this blog and see what the deals are in the future.

ConAgra Rebate

ConAgra has a rebate (form found in May All You Magazine and in 5/3 Smart Source) where if you spend $25 on ConAgra products that you send in the form and they will send you $34 worth of coupons. The $25 is before coupons and there were quite a few coupons in both the magazine and Smart Source inserts with the rebate form. You could easily spend less than $20 and get this. Combine with the Register Rewards deal on ConAgra at Walgreens this week and you can come out great!

Coupons.com has great coupons on their website that you can print directly from your computer. They add more frequently so check them often for the best deals. Just click on the ad to the right and you can start printing right away.

Right now there are some great cereal coupons on there. I have been able to buy lots of cereal at huge discounts lately thanks to coupons like this. Make sure you print them quickly as supplies are limited!
